Canon Personality: Maximilien is a business man through and through. From the select few exchanges we’ve seen of him his immediate response was to give up Doomfists location, leading to his leaders arrest. Naturally being a council member of Talon, a criminal organization, one has to have a certain degree of ruthlessness in them. Given his money laundering escapades it’s probably easy to see and note that Max usually gets what he wants and doesn’t mind when caught by Mercy, Genji, Winston and Tracer. Storm Rising showed that even when under pressure and in the enemies hands he’s casual, business-like and willing to exchange information for deals between both parties. This winds up being a double edge sword for those who work with him. Maximilien in exchange for his own safety gave away Doomfist’s location without a seconds thought, perhaps trying to test the leader of Talon more than anything. But when it comes right down to is, Max will sell you out if it means saving his own skin, regardless of how charming or well-spoken he is. That’s just the nature of Talon and it’s individuals and Max shows that very well. However there’s also the opposite of Maximilien we’ve seen in the comic, Masquerade, where the omnic bemoans Doomfist’s capture and enlightens him on those who planned to take over Doomfist’s position as the head of Talon. He even cleans up the mess Doomfist and Widowmaker make after assassins try to take them both out, not once mentioning he was the sole reason for Doomfist’s imprisonment to begin with. So based on his interactions with Doomfist, the two talk to each other as equals and as if they’re good friends, even. If anything Maximilien is a rather trusted confidant to Doomfist in that he is one of the head accountants and money earning people in the Talon operative.

Max is different than most omnics in that his mannerisms and even his speech is decidedly human. He’s one of the only omnics seen thus far that has such humanistic characteristics, ie: blinking, and even his mouth opening and closing, possibly because his dealings and his business require a lot of human interactions and being seen as more humanized puts his clients at ease.

His strengths are that it’s easy for him to formulate and make plans just by seeing and interacting with humans for so long, he knows what they want, what they all crave and that’s usually money, something he has in great abundance. The other being information and knowledge, which he has a wealth of given all his side business and the traffic that flows through them, so not only is his business for money gathering but also for information gathering as well. Another strong point for the omnic is what he is, essentially. Omnics are sentient robots and with it they have a lot more processing power than humans ever can or will possess. This makes Max a powerful ally in that he bridges the gap between the human and omnic relationships that Talon may have faced prior to his coming into power as one of the head council members. It also goes to show you how much power he truly has if he’s one of the only shown omnic council members whereas all others seen thus far and human. Another strength which also acts as a weakness is that, despite having sentience and a free will omnics lack a certain…empathy towards things in general. His casual reaction to being captured aside Max doesn’t seem very emotional at any point throughout Storm Rising and even though he reacts in a way towards Doomfist breaking out of prison and returning to Talon we don’t get to hear the tone he takes, but it’s more business-like than actually missing and caring about a good friend.

Weakness are of course his lack of empathy and while he expresses and shows humanlike charm and motions, whether or not he actually feels or even just does these things to mimic humans remains to be seen. Loyalty. Where does Maximilien loyalties truly lie? With Talon or with himself and his fellow omnics? It’s hard to really say but Max is one of the only people we’ve seen so far to betray the Talon group aside from Sombra, but her liaison isn’t with any one party specifically. If he so readily gives up and outs his own superior without a second thought just to save his own skin there’s no telling what else he would do for those lesser than Doomfist, so because of his underhanded betrayal this is definitely a weakness. His money laundering business is another thing to bring up, given that money laundering is a terrible business and to be at the head of such an operations means that they’re ruthless to a certain degree. So Max is rather cut-throat and cunning as well, which can be seen as both a weakness and a strength.
